Sharing My Current Favorite Spring Wines…

As you know, I love a good glass of wine and for me, ‘tis the season to start switching from red to white. So, I figured I’d share my current go-tos that have been in circulation. Some have come in the way of recommendations while others are just oldies but goodies. So, with enough time to grab one for the weekend, here are my current favorites along with some pairings that I think you might enjoy.




no. 1 – cloudy bay sauvignon blanc

Region: Marlborough, New Zealand

Price: $30 – $35

I love a good Sauvignon Blanc and this one has both a zesty acidity and refreshing citrus notes. Lately, I’ve been pairing this one with salads and seafood, specifically some scallops I made the other day in a lemon butter sauce. Delicious!



no. 2 – miraval rosé côtes de provence 

Region: Provence, France

Price: $20 – $25

I’ve never been one to turn down a good glass of rosé, especially in the spring. So, I’ve been giving this one a run, and needless to say, it’s been on repeat. It has a very crisp nature which, is what I seek in a rosé. 

My go-to order has been a glass or two with some really good brick oven pizza. Try it and I promise, you’ll thank me later. 


no. 3 – domaine huet le haut lieu sec

Region: Loire Valley, France

Price: $40 – $50

If you haven’t heard of Chenin Blanc, it is a white wine grape from the Loire Valley of France. I was introduced to this wine last year through a friend and had forgotten all about it until I came across it during a wine-shopping trip. A pleasant surprise! 

Unlike Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc is more honeyed in flavor (like pear and apple profiles). Just served this alongside the Spring Pasta I made the other day (see recipe here) and it was chef’s kiss! 



no. 4 – nikolaihof hefeabzug grüner veltliner

Region: Wachau, Austria

Price: $30 – $35

While I can’t pronounce its name (truthfully!), this was a reco from the owner of my local wine shop. I had never tried this one before and as soon as he said, it had a green apple profile (it’s the crispiness for me), I was sold. I’ve been drinking this one occasionally as a nightcap, but based on his reco, he said he pairs it with with pork or a charcuterie board made of mild, soft cheeses. 



no. 5 – martin codax albariño 

Region: Rías Baixas, Spain

Price: $16 – $20

Albariño is a refreshing and aromatic white wine grape primarily grown in Spain and Portugal. This wine is a classic example, offering bright acidity, and a crisp, saline minerality. It’s a versatile wine that I paired with my spring Frittata recipe that is coming up for Mother’s Day. So, stay tuned!
